The back room at Juniper Harvest Bay seats 22 people around a single long table. It has its own entrance from the courtyard, its own bar setup, and walls painted in a dark green that took Mara three weekends to choose. We use it for birthday dinners, work celebrations, leaving parties, and the occasional proposal. Three of those have happened so far, all successful, which we consider a reasonable track record.

How the menu works

Private dining at Juniper Harvest Bay is always a set menu, agreed in advance with Mara and Dominic. You tell us about the group: any dietary requirements, any strong preferences or dislikes, the general feel you are going for. Dominic then proposes a menu, usually four or five courses, built around what is seasonal at the time of your event. You can ask for changes and he will accommodate them where he can. The menu is finalised about two weeks before the event.

What it costs

Private dining starts at £55 per head for a four-course menu, excluding drinks. Wine can be chosen from the full list or Petra can put together a paired flight for an additional £30 per person. There is a minimum of 12 guests for a private booking. For groups smaller than 12, we can sometimes arrange a semi-private section of the main dining room, depending on availability.

How far ahead to book

For Friday and Saturday evenings, we recommend booking at least six weeks ahead, and more like three months for December or the summer holidays. Weekday evenings are more flexible and we have sometimes been able to accommodate bookings with two or three weeks notice. The best way to start is to email hello@juniperharvestbay.com with your date, group size, and a brief note about the occasion. Mara will come back to you within a day or two.

The things people always ask

Can you do a cake? Yes, if you bring one we will store it and bring it out at the right moment. Can you decorate the room? Within reason, yes. Can you do a speech? Absolutely, and we will make sure the timing works around the courses. Can you accommodate a guest in a wheelchair? Yes, the courtyard entrance is step-free and the room is accessible. Is there a deposit? Yes, we ask for 25% at the time of booking, non-refundable within 14 days of the event.

If you are thinking about a private event at Juniper Harvest Bay, the best first step is just to get in touch. We are not precious about it. Tell us what you are planning and we will tell you honestly whether we can make it work.
